NRUTALEELA

Every year a playful presentation is organized by our trust naming “NRUTYALEELA” which showcases the technique, beauty & grace of Bharatanatyam Concepts, Mudras (gestures), Adavus (basic steps), Rachanas (compositions). The students from Kalaprangan trust who have completed at least 2 years of training are eligible to perform in Nrutyaleela.

This year Nrutyaleela 2022 is happening on the auspicious day of Guru Pournima i.e. Wednesday 13th July 2022 – 4:30pm  at Gadkari Rangayatan Thane.

ADAVU YADNYA

Dance is created by weaving diverse basic steps in different forms and orders which gives every dance its uniqueness. These foundation steps are just like the roots of the dance. Roots provide support and strength for the trees to get bigger, just like that these steps provide dancer a wide platform to explore and present their dance. Stronger the grasp over these foundation steps more graceful and unique the performance.

So, on the occasion of the World Dance Day, 29th April Kalaprangan Trust wishes to cherish the bond between the dancer and the fondation steps of Bharatanatyam by carrying out a "Adavu Yadnya". It is a continuous presentation of "Adavu" , the fondation step of Bharatnatyam in a form of an "Yadnya", which is a form of worship. We welcome all the Bharatnatyam Dancers to join us in our initiative and pay their homage to Lord Natraja.

BAITHAK

What makes a great dancer? Is it only classroom learning? Is it exams? Is it just enough to attend classes for particular number of years?

The answer is NO.

Learning is -
1. Learn the fundamentals
2. Watch others dance; in person, and not on YouTube.
3. Read about dance
4. Talk about dance to your Guru and fellow dancers.

Many young students, who go to class, learn the steps. But hardly do they watch their seniors perform. Hardly do they read books on dance.

Baithak = Sitting. A concert is called Baithak when audience as well as the artists sit on the floor and have a homely concert.
Let all the young students come together through this 'Baithak' where they watch their seniors perform and also get to perform some day. It is a platform for all those young minds of the institute to read, think and speak about Dance and learn beyond their classroom learning.

This event happens in one of the days of fourth week of the month.

PRODUCTION

Dance is a performing art. The grace of this dance is enhanced when audience and artist meet in auditorium with the common purpose of experiencing bliss. This blissful joy is the outcome of not only what happens in the final performance on the stage but calls upon a deep study of each and every aspect involved in the "PRODUCTION" of an art piece.

Kalaprangan trust gives an opportunity to our mature dancers to create a PRODUCTION in which a detail study is carried over of the performance which includes concept of the show, script, music, lights, costumes, casting and many more.

Kalaprangan trust launches a production once a year mostly in the month of December or January.

NRUTYAGEETAI
We have done three successful shows in Pune and Thane of this highly appreciated production, NrutyaGeetai.

This is an inspirational story narrated by Shri Krishna to Arjun on the battlefield.

A thematic presentation based on classical dance which depicts a precious thought from ‘Shreemad Bhavatgeeta’ by Lord Krishna.

“You have right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the success and failure of action. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities and never be attached to not doing your duties.” This very thought inspired Arjun to perform his duty on war front transforming his dejection into courage.

DASHAVATARA

Classical dance-drama portraying Stories of दशावतार - Ten Incarnations of Lord Vishnu.

The 10 avatars appear to restore balance - protecting Dharma by eliminating Adharma.

The Dashavatara embodies timeless lessons about preservation, teamwork, rescue, protection, humility, justice, duty, love, strength, and restoration.

This classical production combines beautiful dance movements, expressive storytelling, and heartfelt music to bring these timeless lessons to life, offering audiences an unforgettable journey through the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
