About us: Having bestowed on by the opportunity to master an Indian Classical Dance Form “Bharatanatyam” under noble guidance of my Guru Dr Smt. Sucheta Bhide Chapekar I Dr Mrs Pallavi K. Naik am practicing Bharatanatyam for last more than 30 years and started my teaching career in 2004. My passion of performing and imparting knowledge of this ethnic art induced me to expand the horizon. This led to the formation of Kalaprangan trust in the year 2012 with a view of providing services in the field of Indian classical arts.

 

Our Mission: The main objective of Kalaprangan trust is to preserve and spread authentic knowledge primarily of Bharatanatyam and other classical art forms. With this mission the trust is equally active in taking a unique initiative in exploring various dimensions of classical art forms. This initiative is accomplished by studying various psychophysical benefits of arts to common people and to those with special needs in the society as well and implementing the measures taken in accordance with our findings of the study.

 

Our Vision: The doors of classical dancing open with 3 D's i.e. Discipline, Dedication and Devotion. When these doors are open it explores us to the beauty of practicing classical dance. Practicing classical dance with discipline, dedication, and devoting leads oneself to the state of ultimate joy. Kalaprangan's vision is to confer this joyous experience to each and every part of society irrespective of creed and calibre. Having embraced the idea to create compassionate classical dance followers in the role of students, teachers, performers, researchers, and empathetic audience Kalaprangan foresees offering a palette of various courses in affiliation with renowned institutions. With this vision we promise to adhere to our mission to widespread the deep-rooted tradition and knowledge of classical arts to build a strong and culturally rich society.

 

Our Collaboration: We are pleased to offer following courses:

- DIPLOMA IN BHARATANATYAM WITH AESTHETICS AND THERAPEUTIC STUDIES.

- CERTIFICATE COURSE IN DANCE FOR SPECIAL STUDENTS

Both the courses are in collaboration with Mumbai University (Academy of Theatre Arts)

 

Our Association and Associates: Kalaprangan trust is cordially associated with various institutions for spreading the noble knowledge of classical arts in the society. To mention a few, Lark school of Prism foundation - Pune, Jidda, Vishwa, and Holly cross Schools for special children in Thane. Dnyansadhana School and Saraswati Mandir Trust, Thane & Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalya Mandal, Miraj. These associations have facilitated us to carry out various activities in the domain of Bharatanatyam and Bharatanatyam therapy for common as well as special people.

 

Our range of pursuits: Bharatanatyam, being performing art, we are always keen and enthusiastic in extending this joy of performing to the students. The students have been performing in various popular festivals, like Upavan Art festival - Thane, Shivali Foundation – Matunga. Our pragmatic approach has encouraged our students to win the first prize in diverse dance competitions such as 'A choreography competition conducted at Dadar Matunga Cultural Center' by Kalavardhini – Pune and Dadar Matunga Cultural Center – Mahim, Mumbai.
 

Being meticulous about stage performance and maintaining purity of traditional dance forms we have been endeavouring to organize “NRITYA-LEELA” A playful presentation showcasing technique, beauty & grace of Bharatanatyam since 6 years.

Further to our aforesaid achievements we have initiated a 'PRODUCTION HOUSE' under which various dance productions have been devised, created, directed and presented. To name a few:

 

- द्वैताद्वैत - The presentation portraying the various shades of eternal bond of Love between, Purush - Prakruti, Mother – Child, Bharatiya – Bharat mata and finally the realization of oneness between all mighty and human being.

 

- नृत्यसभा - first Dance presentation in the ancient Kopineshwar Mandir in Thane city. This presentation included various grandeur forms of Lord Shiva.

 

- सावळे स्वरूप - an innovative Bharatanatyam presentation based on poetic compositions penned by Shree Bhramachytanya Gondawalekar Maharaj on the auspicious day of jece vekeceer.

 

 - तेजस्वी किरण शलाका सावित्री - A distinct Dance Drama choreographed on the poetic literature 'SAVITRI' written by Shree Aurobinda Swami.

To widen the perspective of Arts and develop deeper knowledge regarding Bharatanatyam, the trust arranged workshops on topics related and allied to Bharatanatyam. To name a few,

 

  • Bharatanatyam Makeup: Bharatanatyam is an art of performing Makeup one of the vital elements of this art beautifies the artist to feel good and perform well, Kalaprangan trust took immense pleasure in organizing the first workshop of 2016 On Bharatanatyam makeup.
  • Yoga & Bharatanatyam: Bharatanatyam is fine-tuning of body, mind and brain. Yoga which is also a fine combination of exercise, pranayam and mediation helps dancer to have fit body, mind and brain. Kalaprangan trust took an endeavor in organizing the second workshop of 2016 on Yoga and Bharatanatyam.
  • Nutrition for Dancers: What we eat = how we look and how we feel, hence nutritious food helps to feel good and practice the best of Bharatanatyam, Kalaprangan trust was happy organizing the third workshop of 2016 on Nutrition for Dancers.
  • Aerobic Exercises: Aerobic exercise increases the efficiency of respiration, improves blood volume, distribution, and delivery to muscles and improves cardiovascular efficiency, thus Aerobic exercise helps a dancer to be fit, practice well and perform gracefully. Kalaprangan trust organized a distinct workshop on AEROBIC EXERCISE.

दिव्यांगण: Divayngan, A unique and joyous courtyard for special needs is an initiative by Kalaprangan Trust. It is a well- organized Art class for special population wherein differently abled children learn, dance, music, expression, rhythm and varied activities which help eradicate their inhibitions and enhance their personality.
